Howdy! I’m Rob Chastain.

 

I am a multidisciplinary problem solver with a design, marketing, and business development background. I am passionate about building innovative strategies to elevate brands that connect with a target audience. I’m comfortable in fast-paced environments and enjoy staying nimble and adaptive. Ultimately - I am self-motivated with a love of collaboration and creative thinking.

LOGO DESIGN

In 2022, I had the unique opportunity to work directly with Roger Penske on refreshing the visual identity across all INDYCAR entities. This collaboration was instrumental in elevating the brand’s presence and aligning it with the vision of the Penske team. I led the redesign of the marks ensuring they captured both the legacy of INDYCAR and its forward-thinking, high-performance atmosphere. The biggest challenge was building new refreshed brands to appeal to both diehard fans and new audiences. The refreshed identities helped solidify INDYCAR’s position as a premier motorsport leagues and reinforced its commitment to innovation, excellence, and the thrill of racing.


PENSKE ENTERTAINMENT CREATIVE CAMPAIGNS

As Art Director of INDYCAR, I played a pivotal role in transitioning the creative direction of INDYCAR’s brands from agency-led (pre-2021) campaigns to fully in-house production. By building a talented internal creative team and fostering a collaborative environment, I was able to streamline INDYCAR’s processes, giving us more control over each brand’s visual identity. This shift brought greater consistency and innovation to our campaigns and allowed us to produce high-impact, branded content that resonated more deeply with fans, sponsors, and partners. Over the years, I have helped elevate INDYCAR’s creative presence across digital, print, and experiential platforms, making our brand voice more dynamic and cohesive than ever before.

INDY NXT By Firestone CREATIVE CAMPAIGNS

INDYCAR STYLE GUIDE

 

Rules Rules Rules.

As part of my role at INDYCAR, I created and maintained the sanctioning body’s Style Guide. From partners to promoters to teams, the target was to build a structure that provided constancy across any use of INDYCAR’s intellectual property. This guide delivers the foundations from logo usage, typography, brand colors, print/digital assets, terminology, and correct verbiage usage in copy. By establishing these guidelines, I helped streamline the creative process, ensuring that INDYCAR’s brand identity remained cohesive, premium, and aligned with the league’s framework across all platforms and materials.

TEAM USA SOCIAL TRUCK

Creative Development, Fabrication & Installation

Overview:

In 2017 the United States Olympic Committee teamed up with Wasserman Media Group and Experiential Marketing Inc. to produce a mobile unit to activate a nationwide mobile campaign. I was honored with the role of creating an experiential concept aimed at activating this campaign. The challenge was to produce a unit set to travel across the United States and engage Americans in a nationwide pep rally for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games.

Target:

It was essential for the unit to travel down the road like a box truck and have the ability to be assembled and torn down by one employee (the driver). The USOC aimed to implement this solution and allow Americans to engage with this multi-stop festival traveling across the country to build energy and excitement for the PyeongChang Winter Games. With Hershey as a main sponsor, Team USA’s focus was allowing users to:

  • Share their social memories live as they develop on-screen

  • See Team USA Athletes give speeches on a fold-out stage

  • Engage with the Team USA bobsled photo booth

  • Sample Hershey products 

  • Interact with Samsung’s virtual reality booth

  • Engage with the Team USA athlete Snapchat face swap wall

  • Interact with a designated photo and GIF station

  • Allow Fans to share messages on a digital message board

Solution:

Through the truck's evolution, I delivered multiple blueprints and 3D renders to the clients as the truck evolved. During the development, I led the communication of fabrication adjustments between the team of engineers and clients. Collaborating with PixelFLEX led solutions, I assisted Team USA in accomplishing their main goal of allowing fans to organically share their excitement for Team USA on a screen that was lifted by hydraulics out of the top of the unit. I helped orchestrate and convey the available marketing space for the exterior and walls of the unit.  Finally, I was the lead on the graphic vinyl exterior installation and production of the skirt on the mobile unit. The final deliverable encompassed an immersive experience that engaged and connected fans with the client’s goals. The Team USA Social Truck evolved into a unit with a slide-out to double interior space similar to some RV campers. The truck was equipped with a separate room for a generator, electronics, and a full control panel for the hydraulics and sensory solutions. The Team USA Social truck was reskinned to promote the Tokyo 2020 XXXII Summer Olympic Games.
